PUBLIC NOTICE The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fishing and Boating Services Changes to the Recreational and Commercial Tautog Fishery — Effective 5/16/18

The Secretary of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, pursuant to the Code of Maryland Regulations 08.02.05.20, announces changes to the recreational and commercial tautog season and catch limits from May 16 through December 31, 2018.

This action is in response to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Amendment 1 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Tautog. Effective 12:01 a.m. May 16, 2018 the season and catch limits are:


May 16th to June 30th - Closed

July 1st to October 31st - 2 fish per person

November 1st to December 31st - 4 fish per person per day

Minimum size remains at 16-inches.

All other rules remain the same.
